Milano Design Week 2023

Japan: Akira Ishinwatari

On the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2023, Ottica San Maurilio is pleased to invite you to an exclusive event “JAPAN” which combines the quality of Made in Italy with the charm of Japan

The inaugural event will take place on 19th April 2023 from 18.00 to 21.00at 5Vie Art + Design exhibition, where you will be immersed in the traditional Japanese atmosphere, also thanks to the smile and creativity of the artist MizuTomoko who will create wonderful paper creations with the ancient Japanese technique of origami.

A unique opportunity to encounter the playful and creative spirit of the Tokyo designer Akira Ishinwatari, who through his Platoy eyewear collection invites us to have fun, just like in the game “Play Plastic Toy.”

Drawing inspiration from the enthusiasm of a child receiving a new toy, the person who wears PLATOY glasses plays with colors and experiences joy and pleasure in wearing them. The collection features bold design, captivating details, and glossy candy-like colors. These frames are made in Italy by the leading manufacturing company Faoflex, using acetates and small components strictly sourced from Japan, enchanting and inspiring creative minds and confident, determined individuals.

Simone and Alessia invite you to see the fabulous colors of these truly original glasses with your own eyes and to continue the journey toward the East by discovering the elegant cases by Sen Factory, unique pieces made from ever-different vintage kimono silk that tells the story of Japan.

We look forward to celebrating with you the fusion of Eastern and Western style and culture, and to raising a glass of Champagne together in collaboration with the historic Maison Piper-Heidsieck.

Please note that the collections will be on display and the eyewear available to try on until Sunday, April 23, 2023.
